Avatar, new film from director James Cameron, is a 3D science fiction. Avatar film focuses on an epic conflict which takes place in the year 2154 on faraway world called Pandora. Pandora, despite being almost the same size as Earth, is only a moon of the gas giant Polyphemus, which has thirteen other moons. Pandora and Polyphemus are figures in Greek mythology. However small Pandora´s size, its gravity is 20% less than on Earth. Due to this reason, most creatures on Avatar´s Pandora have six legs. The other anomalie is, that Pandora can have two or three moons in its sky at one time. To the cultures of Earth, which has lost all contact with the natural world, Pandora is mysterious, primal and terrifying.
On this planet is RDA corporation which is mining a valuable mineral. Because of Pandora´s toxic atmospehere (to humans), people are forced to use breathing masks.
Pandora is inhabited by the Na´vi – blue skinned creatures, who live in harmony with nature. To simplify the research of this planet, RDA create a Na´vi-human hybrid bodies called AVATARS that are directed by mental link of genetically matching humans. Avatar brings us a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind. Revolutionary technology which was used for making this film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story. Avatar has been nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
